Zenas Gunter

July 13, 1949 — January 22, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Zenas Gunter, 75, of Marion, Indiana, who left this world peacefully to be with Jesus on January 22, 2025, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on July 13, 1949, in Greenville, Tennessee, Zenas was the cherished son of Calvin and Nola (Morse) Gunter. He married his beloved wife, Judy Gunter, on December 2,

1972, and together they shared a profound bond that endured for over 52 years.

Zenas pursued an education in Greenville before embarking on a fulfilling career in construction, where he later became part owner of a successful construction company. His dedication to hard work was matched only by his commitment to his faith; Zenas and Judy were actively involved in their church communities both in Florida and Indiana. Zenas served as a Deacon at Community Chapel First Church in Mount Dora, Florida and was an active member at Healing Waters Ministry in Mount Etna, Indiana.

In retirement, Zenas and Judy enjoyed a second home in Florida, where they cherished the warmth of the sun for several months each year. He treasured spending time outdoors, whether it was gardening, boating, fishing, or taking long, adventurous rides on their Harley Davidson with Judy. They organized several benefit rides for children with cancer. Zenas was known for his vibrant spirit, passion for helping people, and seeing the best in everyone. He never knew a stranger and often had gatherings of loved ones around bonfires, creating memories that will be held dear forever.

Zenas leaves behind his devoted wife Judy; children Scott (Tina) Gunter, Betty (Roger) Hamm, and Jennifer Carpenter; grandchildren Kylee (Dylan) Sparks, Zachary Gunter, Alex (Bailey) Gunter, Eli (Savannah) Gunter, and Braelynn Roller; and great-grandchildren Raylee Sparks, Oaklynn Gunter, Montana Gunter, and Jenaro Rangel. He is also survived by his brother Carlton Gunter and sister Geneva Hicks.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Cecil, Taft, and Albert Gunter.

A celebration of Zenas's life will take place on February 15, 2025 at 1pm, at Healing Waters Ministry, located at 5811 W 606 S, Huntington, IN 46750. In honor of his love for community, memorial contributions may be made to the Bread Basket at Healing Waters Ministry.
