Violet R. Metzger

Violet R. (Payne) Metzger,82, formerly of Fairmount, Indiana, died, Monday, December 19, 2022, at her niece's home in Alexandria, Indiana.

Violet was born on January 22, 1940, in Dallas County, Missouri, daughter of the late Lloyd Ray and Mila (Guthrie) Payne. She married Donald Ray Metzger. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2009. Violet was a homemaker and attended the South Marion Freewill Baptist Church. Violet was a very private and gentle woman that loved her family fiercely.

Violet is survived by her two sons, Donald (Tina) Metzger, of San Diego, California, and Kris (Jessica) Metzger, Marion, Indiana; three grandchildren, Joy Metzger, Jason (Michelle) Metzger, and Jean (Mik) Koneval; five great-grandchildren; and her niece, Linda (Dale) Gibson, of Alexandria.

Violet was the last surviving of her five siblings. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank, Clyde, and Charles Payne, Fern Rankin, and Nadine Williams.

Services for Violet will be held at the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana, on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Park Cemetery, Fairmount.
