Velma J. Ratliff

Velma J. (Stanley) Ratliff, 84, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, on Sunday, July 21, 2019. She was born to Kenneth and Fern Stanley on September 28, 1934, at their Sweetser home. She married P. Hersal Ratliff on December 1, 1961, and he survives in Marion. Velma worked at RCA for many years, then worked with her husband at BH Marathon for 25 years, until they both retired. She is loved and will be missed greatly by her family. Velma is survived by her husband, Hersal; two daughters, Glenna J. Perry and Beverly J. Penrod; five grandchildren, Valerie Glick, Anthony (Marcy) Penrod, Leroy Penrod, Michael Penrod, and Jessica Perry; twelve great-grandchildren, Tanner Glick, Avery Glick, Alyssa Glick, Kaylee Penrod, Kaitlyn Penrod, Logan Penrod, Rory Penrod, Lilly Penrod, Bailey Penrod, Harper Penrod, Lauryn Penrod, and Preston Perry; and three sisters, Janet Ravencroft, Wanda (Harlan) Haisley, and Betty Lisby. The family would also like to thank the nurses at Heart to Heart Hospice for the amazing care and compassion that they showed to not only Velma, but to the family as well. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Fern; three brothers, Ovid Earl, Junior, and Richard; and one sister, Rosemary Moore. There will be a visitation at the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953, on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2019, with Pastor Gary Dalton officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Huntington County.
