Truman J. Smith

Truman J. Smith, 84, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. He was born on January 12, 1935, in Hazard, Kentucky, to the late John Smith and the late Orphia (Cornett) Meade. Truman married Pauline (Collins) Smith, on August 5, 1955, she preceded him in death in 2007. He worked in the salvage and welding departments at General Motors for 20 years before retiring in 1985. Trumans faith is described as being an old regular Baptist. He was a part of the UAW, Local 977 and the CPC Sympathy Club. Truman truly enjoyed being outdoors. He loved driving his tractor, gardening, mowing, burning trash, working, singing and playing his harmonica. Truman is survived by his daughter, Sharon Fisher, Marion; his special daughters, Sharon (Gogi) Hoheimer, Fairmount and Rita Lines, Marion; his grandsons, Michael (Lorna) Combs, Fort Wayne, and Mitchell Combs, Marion; his great-granddaughters Sidney and Carly Combs, Fort Wayne; his sisters, Norma Jent and Judy Mosley, both of Vicco, KY, and Wilma Richie, KY; and his brothers, James Richie of Vicco, KY, and John Andy Richie, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Coy R. Combs; his brothers, Kenneth and Frank Smith; and his favorite dog Lulu. Arrangements for Truman have been entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 4601 S. Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953, where there will be a visitation on Saturday, September 14, 2019, from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M., a funeral service beginning at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Todd Graham officiating. Burial immediately following at Gardens of Memory, Marion, Indiana. Contributions in honor of Truman may be made to Mercy Baptist Church, 1720 W. 38th Street, Marion, Indiana 46953.
