Thomas Gibson

Thomas R. Gibson, 79, of Fairmount, Indiana, passed away on January 21, 2025, at home, surrounded by family. Thomas was born August 8, 1945, in Quinton, Kentucky. He was an Army veteran, serving in Vietnam from December 10, 1969 to November 12, 1970. He then went on to be a pipefitter at General Motors for 25 years. Thomas loved fishing and spending time with his family. He loved being on his boat, fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Hazel Gibson; siblings, Forrest Gibson, Robert Gibson, George Gibson, Jerry Gibson, Carl Bradshaw, Benny Bradshaw, Richard Bradshaw, Lily Thinnes, Pearl Shelburn, and Josephine Fields.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Peggy Gibson of Fairmount; sons, Dane (Angela) Gibson of Fairmount, and Jacob (Jonte) Gibson of Fairmount; daughters, Rose (Thomas) Dixon of Missouri, and Shawna (Russell) Gibson of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Nicole Rivera of Arkansas, Bradley (Nicole) Johnson of Alaska, Brookelin (Cylas) Percy of Jonesboro, Aubrianna Koontz of Jonesboro, Steven (Amanda) Johnson of North Carolina, Pearl Gibson, Jacob Smith, Axl Gibson, Vada Gibson, and Danyell Majors, all of Fairmount; great-grandchildren, Adriana, Ava, Abigail, and Henry Rivera of Arkansas, Stone Johnson of Alaska, and Zoey, Hayley, and Mary Beth Johnson of North Carolina; siblings, Barbara Zeek, Francis Gipson, Mary Sue Denny, and Clark Gibson; plus numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Private family services will be held at a later date.
