Theodore "Ted" Martin Hiatt, 74, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, July 11, 2022. Ted was born on September 13, 1947, to the late Francis "Fritz" and Aralee Hiatt who survives. He graduated from Fairmount High School, class of 1965, and then attended Texas A&M and Purdue University. He became an electrician, worked for the IBEW 873, Citizens Telephone, and Chrysler, where he retired from in 2005. He also volunteered for the Fairmount Fire Department for 25 years, 15 of which he served as the chief. On January 1, 1982, he married Elizabeth Beeman, and she survives. Ted attended Summitville United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Sons of the American Legion Post 313, Scottish Rite and Shriners. He was also the co-founder of the Madison-Grant Youth Basketball League. He loved to coach the youth baseball, basketball, and football leagues. Ted is survived by his wife of 40 years, Beth; four children, Kim (Dave) Bialaszewski, Kevin Hiatt, Philip "P.D." (Stephanie) Parker, and Jennifer (Michael) Lamb; grandchildren, Chelsey (Justin) Creech, Kayla (Chas Johnson) Bialaszewski, Chanse (Alicia) Weaver, Hayli (Michael Lohse) Parker, Kayli (Kameron Eller) Parker, Kylar Weaver, Chelsea Parker, Teddy Parker, Gage Bell, Trinity Bell, Alexis Lamb, and Austin Lamb; two great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Dailey; brother, Rev. Greg (Carol) Hiatt; aunt, Donna Smith; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Fritz; great-granddaughter, Adalynn Grace Weaver; and sister, Janet Hanlon. The family would like to thank the staff of Brighton Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for Ted. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, where a visitation will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Reverends Greg Hiatt and Jason Sanders officiating.
