Steven Jay Riggs

Steven Jay Riggs, a beloved husband, father, son, and brother, peacefully passed away from an extended illness on April 4, 2024, at the age of 64, in the comfort of his home. Born on June 19, 1959, to Lambert and Judy Riggs, Steve grew up in Point Isabel, Indiana, and graduated from Kokomo High School. Following his education, he pursued a career as a dedicated heavy equipment operator for Local 103, where he was respected by colleagues and union members alike.

In addition to his professional life, Steve was deeply passionate about various activities. He found solace in the great outdoors, spending joyful moments fishing and hunting. Riding motorcycles and strumming the guitar were among his favorite pastimes, showcasing his adventurous spirit and artistic talents.

On June 18, 1983, Steve married his loving wife, Betsy Leach, with whom he shared many cherished memories. Alongside Betsy, he leaves behind a legacy of love and guidance for their two sons, Adam and Alex. Steve is also survived by his mother, Judy, and his brothers, Sam and Randy (Gina). The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for their love and support, and to Teddy Payne for his support and comfort during this time.

A private graveside service, honoring Steve's wishes, will be conducted at a later date. The Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
