Sharon J. Blackburn

Sharon J. Blackburn, age 71, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 25, 1952, to the late Lloyd and Loretta Bowman, Sharon was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Jack Blackburn, whom she married on November 27, 1970.


A dedicated homemaker, Sharon spent her early years showcasing her skills as a home packaging expert at the fireworks shop in Gas City. Her love for reading and watching Game Show Network and FETV was undeniable, but nothing compared to evenings spent with Jack watching In the Heat of the Night. Sharon exuded a compassionate spirit and was always there to lend an ear or a helping hand to those in need.


Sharon leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She is survived by her husband, Jack; daughters, Stacie (Don) Williams, Amber Baker, and Kayce (Marcos) Irizarry, all residing in Fairmount; grandchildren, Marissa, Jacob (Cortney), Dakota (Jr.), Dylan (Karmen), D.J. (Erica), Austin, Ethan, Zoe, Xristofer; great-grandchildren, Illa'rie, Ice'sis, Iza'bell, I'onica, I'zaya, Lily, Anya, Toby, Eli; sister, Diana Hurlock, Gas City; and brothers, Bill Bowman, Virginia, Eddie Bowman, Gas City, and Lee Roger Bowman, Columbia City.


Preceding her in death are her parents, Lloyd and Loretta; son, Patrick Wayne Blackburn; sister, Deb Blackburn; son-in-law, Aaron Baker; and her cherished cat, Maize.


Arrangements for Sharon's funeral services have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, located at 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana 46928. In accordance with her wishes, a private burial at Gardens of Memory in Marion will take place.
