Samuel R. Shull, Sr.

Samuel R. Shull, Sr., 89, died Thursday evening, July 29, 2021, in Marion General Hospital, Marion. He was born in Marion on November 25, 1931, the son of the late Harry Shull and Belinda Irene (Hileman) Hutton. He married Wilma A. Shockey on September 24, 1949. Together they shared 67 years before she preceded him in death on January 23, 2017. Sam, who was a life-long Grant County resident, was employed as a Machine Operator at Owens-Illinois Glass, Gas City, for 30 years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and wasn't afraid to speak his mind. Survivors include his children: Robert Shull I, Upland; Wilma (John) Jacobs, Marion; and Jennifer Luckey, Marion; grandchildren: Raeann Shull; Robert Shull II; Wesley Felver; Jessie Jackson; Robert Luckey; Verlista Luckey; Anna Luckey; and Brandon Luckey; great-grandchildren: six Aiden Luckey; Keagon Coffee; Emily Felver; Braxton Luckey; Kade Barfield; and Dezmond Barfield; his sister: Olive Carter, Smyrna, Tennessee; and ex-daughter-in-law: Louann Shull, Hartford City. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three children: Samuel Shull, Jr., Harry Shull, and Lycrecia Shull; and three great-grandchildren: Roselyn Felver, Hunter Felver, and Lauren Robinson. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 259 N. Main St., Upland, Indiana, where a visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, Wednesday, August 4, 2021. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM and burial will follow in Jefferson Cemetery, Upland. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
