Ruth Patterson

Ruth A. Patterson, 95, of Fairmount, died Monday, February 3, 2025 at Colonial Oaks Health Care in Marion.

Ruth was born in Plymouth, Indiana on September 3, 1929, daughter of the late Everett Chester Houghton, and Ilo Grace (Seymour) Houghton. Ruth graduated from Monticello High School in 1947 where she was a cheerleader, and attended Marion Business College. Ruth married John Patterson on August 29, 1978. He preceded her in death. Ruth was a 29 year employee of RCA/Thompson. She started her career at RCA as a secretary and was a Jr. Engineer when she retired in 1992. Ruth was a member of the First Christian Church in Monticello, and the American Legion post 313 Auxiliary. She enjoyed golfing, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo and cards, and following Purdue sports and the Colts.

Ruth is survived by her six children, Sandy (Bill) Rock, Gas City, Kathy (Rick) Savage, Fairmount, Steve Wright, Oneida, TN, Dennis (Michele) Wright, Fairmount, Jeff Wright, Fairmount, and Larry Wright, Fairmount;  8 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; step-children, Janet (Ron) Holt and Gary (Francisco) Patterson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Bill, Don and Dick Houghton; and two sisters, Josephine Snyder and Mary Kehoe; son, Jim Patterson, and a grandchild, Jacob.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. As per Ruth's wishes cremation will take place and there will be no services.
