Ruth Ann Custer, a beloved member of the Marion community, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 6, 2024, aged 86, at Miller's Merry Manor, surrounded by family. Born on June 26, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Ruth Hoover, Frostburg, Pennsylvania.
Ruth Ann, a graduate of Punxsutawney High School, spent her early years on a dairy farm where her love for Holstein cows blossomed. She was known for her skill as a seamstress, crocheting Christmas ornaments and afghans every year for her grandchildren, her passion for NASCAR racing, particularly her admiration for Dale Earnhardt Jr., and her fondness for all things Disney. She found great joy in caring for others and took care of many children over the years, and was affectionately known as 'Grammie' by those she cared for. She was a loving homemaker. She worked at JoAnn Fabrics and Mary Lester Fabrics for many years. Ruth Ann's nurturing spirit led her to a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Miller's Merry Manor in Peru, where she touched the lives of many with her compassionate care. She faithfully attended Hanfield United Methodist Church for many years.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Winona Farr, Jonesboro, Vonda (Tim) Hanson, Marion, Kimberly (David) Coxson, Hubbard, Ohio, and James (Kylie) Wortinger, Marion, as well as her daughter-in-law, Sherrill (Rodney) Howard, Van Buren.
