Ruth Ann Coulter

June 6, 1937 — December 25, 2021

Ruth Ann (Clark) Coulter went to her eternal home in heaven on December 25, 2021, born June 6, 1937, to Donald and Ruth (Steele) Clark in Boundary, Indiana. She grew up in Jay County. She graduated from Saratoga High School in Indiana in 1955. She was married to William Byrd in 1955. She lived in Jay, Delaware, and Randolph counties and raised 5 children. She was very active in the Clear Creek Congregational Church and the community until 1987 when she married Lloyd Laverne Coulter on June 6, 1987 and moved to his family farm in Grant County, where her family became even larger with the addition of 6 step-children. She was a farm wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (GG), homemaker, 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher, church pianist and organist, and Avon representative. She gave piano lessons for close to 70 years to children and adults alike. She was a Title I aide at Willard Elementary and a Bus aide for Madison-Grant Schools on the bus her husband drove. She was an active member of the Fowlerton United Methodist Church, The Friendly Rural Couples, Farm Bureau, Home Extension Club, and Ladies Aide. Her life was devoted to her Christian faith, family, and to helping in any way she could. She played piano and organ at Fowlerton UMC as well as the Holy Family of Gas City Catholic church during services. She enjoyed watching and supporting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in 4-h, sports, and their activities. She hosted many exchange students over the years from Denmark, Brazil, France, Switzerland, Peru, and Japan. She always kept a close relationship with the first of them, Jorgen Rasmussen, from Denmark. She believed a letter was as good as a phone call and still wrote many personal notes to people. She loved music and could not only read music, but play it by ear. She was loved and appreciated by many. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 34 years, Lloyd Laverne Coulter; three sons, James Byrd, Winchester, IN, David Byrd (Deb), Elwood, IN and Ron Byrd, (Abby) Brookston, IN; two daughters, Diana Dull (Scott), Winchester, IN and Karen Byrd Hardin (William), West Lafayette, IN; step-children, Mike Coulter (Tonia), Albany, Mark Coulter (Rhonda), New Carlisle, OH, Larry Coulter (Sherry), Gaston, Lisa LeCount (Ben), Albany, Sara Morgan (Michael), Noblesville; 10 Grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 27 step-grandchildren; and 20 step-great-grandchildren.
