Ruby J. Keirstead

Ruby J. Keirstead, 84, of Gas City, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. She was born on October 30, 1939, in Marion, Indiana, to Samuel and Lessie (Hanshew) Haley and raised by Cledith and Clercie (Andrews) Thornburgh, who all preceded her in death. She attended Community Bible Methodist Church in Gas City where she was loved so well.

Ruby was a homemaker and loved her family deeply. All she ever wanted was to be a mother, and she did that job well. Her family was her greatest accomplishment.

Ruby loved and served God, and anytime you asked her for advice, she would point you to Jesus. She loved Gaither music and watched it every night.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings. She was the last of the ten Haley children to survive. Remaining are her two children, Esther (Bausell) Nelson and Jimmy Keirstead (Karen Schultz), four foster siblings, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two special friends, Melissa Lane and Paul Fields, who were like family to her.

Friends and Family may gather to share and remember at the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana 46989, on Monday, April 22, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Jefferson Cemetery, Upland, Indiana.
