Robert M Roth

Robert M. Roth, age 70, of Marion, IN, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Colonial Oaks Healthcare Center.

Born on October 31, 1953, in Marion, Indiana, Bob was the son of Robert L. Roth and the late Wilma J. Huston Roth Rood. He grew up in Fairmount and graduated from Madison-Grant High School in 1972. Following high school, he attended Taylor University in Upland, IN for one year.

Bob was actively involved in his community as a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 10 and AMVets. An avid music enthusiast, he loved singing gospel and 50's and 60's music, with a special admiration for Elvis Presley. He even had an Elvis costume made, which he donned to perform a few of his favorite songs. Bob was also a member of the Special "K's," a musical group consisting of former Madison-Grant graduates. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enjoyment of fishing and spending time at Little Barbee Lake.

As a passionate sports fan, Bob cheered for the Colts, Indiana University basketball, the Indiana Fever, and NASCAR. He dedicated time to coaching his sons in the Fairmount Youth League, where he imparted his love of basketball and baseball.

Professionally, Bob excelled as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Union for 37 years.

On April 14, 2005, he married Tonya Arnett, who survives him. He is also survived by his sons, Nick (Heather) Roth and Adam (Christine) Roth; step-children Derek Timmons (Amy Lahr), Holly (Ben) Schroeder; his father, Robert L. Roth; his siblings, Timothy (Nancy) Roth, Tonya (Stephen) Pearson, Ronald (Mitzi) Mathews, Randy (Carol) Mathews, Donna (Mark) Hoover, Barbara Mathews, and Karen Cogdell; and his grandchildren, Owen, Calvin, Weston, and Evie Roth, Sophia and Gwen Roth, Trevor Timmons, Natalya Queen, Paige, Dexton, and Kinley Schroeder; great-granddaughters Ophelia, Iyla, and Ava. Additionally, he is survived by the mother of his children, Janette Roth.

Bob was preceded in death by his mothers, Wilma J. Rood and Betty Roth, step-father Herschel Rood, and his grandchildren, Aubrey Miriam Roth and Lincoln Timothy Roth.

Life celebration services for Bob will be held on Friday, August 23, from 10 AM to 12 PM at Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, College Park Chapel, located at 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, IN 49653. The family will receive friends and family, followed by a celebration service at 12:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Ron Meyer. In accordance with Bob's wishes, cremation will follow.
