Robert "Bruce" B. Owens

Robert "Bruce" B. Owens, 74, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at his Marion residence. Bruce was born on March 13, 1948, to the late Robert L. and Oka (Morris) Owens, in Danville, IL. He graduated from Armstrong High School in 1966. Bruce married the love of his life, Frances (Lord) Owens on November 5, 1977. They spent 44 beautiful years together. He retired from Vita Plus as a Dairy Specialist after 30-plus years of service. Bruce did not want to slow down after retirement and became the founder of Poppy's Xtreme Donuts about 8 years ago. He was a member of Marion First Church of God. Bruce was an avid sports fan and loved watching football and golf. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of a traveling golf team for several years. Bruce and his granddaughter Joni were bowling partners. He loved his family and will be deeply missed by them and his friends. Bruce is survived by his wife, Frances Owens, Marion; sons, Troy Owens, Puerto Rico; Derron (Brandy) Owens, Henning, IL; Matthew Owens, Potomac, IL; and Stephanie (Darrel) Schliep, Brazil, IN; grandkids, Jordyn Owens, Devin Owens, Kaydya Owens, Maci (Carl) Watson, Kinman Owens, Mattisyn Owens, Benjamin Owens, Tory Owens, and Joni Schliep; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Oka (Morris) Owens; and his daughter, Becky San Miguel. Arrangements for Bruce have been entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953. The family will hold a visitation at Marion First Church of God, 450 W. 50th Street, Marion, Indiana 46953 on, Monday, August 22, 2022, from 12:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., with the funeral beginning at 3:00 P.M., with Pastor Jonathan Secrest officiating.
