Robert M. Breedlove Sr., a beloved husband, father, and community member, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on October 13, 1936, in Marion, Indiana, Robert dedicated his life to family, business, and community service, leaving behind a legacy of love and determination.
A proud graduate of Marion High School, Robert continued his education of life through his entrepreneurial journey as the third-generation owner of Breedlove and Son Appliances. His passion for sales and service, along with his unwavering commitment to his customers, helped establish a trusted cornerstone of the Marion community.
On November 5, 1955, Robert married his soulmate, Patricia J. Conn, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together filled with love and laughter. Together, they raised a family rooted in strong values and deep connections. Survived by his loving wife, Patricia, their children-sons Robert (Kathy) and Gary Breedlove, and daughter Kimberly Tabb. Robert's family also includes his adoring grandchildren, Patricia (Brian) Smith, Lisa (Caleb) Thompson, Adam (Lindsey) Breedlove, Cayla (Stephen) Mahoney, and Leah (Cedrik) Bell, as well as his great-grandchildren, Miles, Rowen, Isla, Tenley, Aurora, Lawson, Ansel, Daniel, Noel, and Luna, and his siblings, Dane (Rosa) Breedlove, Jack (Walda) Breedlove, Karen (Jerry) Dinius, and Ken Breedlove. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Robert's car club friends and to David Miller at Heart to Heart Hospice.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maxine; brother, Larry Breedlove; sister, Fairy King; and son-in-law, Gary Tabb.
Robert was known not only as a devoted family man but also as a committed member of his community. He served honorably in the National Guard for 9 ½ years, exemplifying his dedication to service. He also engaged in various community activities, having been a former member of the local exchange club and a private pilot. Together with his brother Jack, he co-owned a plane, showcasing his adventurous spirit. Robert's love for classic cars found a home in the Grant County Corvette Club and the Mississinewa Valley Central Indiana Classy Chevy Club, where he relished camaraderie and shared passions. He was also the President of the Condo Association where they lived for over 25 years.
As a faithful member of Faith Harvest Church, Robert contributed to his congregation as a former finance chairman, further emphasizing his commitment to helping those around him. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, warm smile, and the countless lives he touched throughout his years.
Arrangements for Robert have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Colter officiating. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family asks that everyone wear their IU gear in memory of Robert. Following the service, Robert will be entombed at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 1614 North Baldwin Avenue, Suite A, Marion, Indiana 46952.
