Rita Jane Strawser

Rita Jane Strawser of Upland, Indiana, passed on January 9, 2022. She was born in Marion, IN, 25th of June, 1956, to Howard E. & A. Marie Moss. After graduating from Marion High School in 1974, she attended Taylor University, where she earned a degree in Social Work. Rita returned to college at Indiana Wesleyan University for her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Nursing. She worked as a psychiatric nurse for 30 years at VA Medical Center of Northern Indiana before retiring in 2016. Rita met her husband, "an answer to prayer," while working at the VA. She loved to teach, she loved the Lord, and she loved teaching others about the Lord. She led bible studies, among many other activities, at Oak Chapel United Methodist Church. She is survived by: Husband Robert G. Strawser of Upland, IN; Son Nathaniel E. Moss of Marion; Grandsons Nathaniel A. Moss & Christopher Moss of Swayzee, IN; Son Eric L. Strawser of Lorain, OH; Daughter Monica L. Howard of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren Danielle L. Howard, Caden E. Howard & Chase E. Howard of Kingsport, TN; Sister Christina Martin of Modoc, IN; Brother Howard Steven Moss of Fort Wayne, IN; Niece Janel (and husband Harry) Simmons of Modoc, IN; Grand Nieces Dallas (and husband Seth) Shepherd & Ashleigh (and husband Steven) Shaver. A Celebration of Life service will Saturday February 5, 2022 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Don Brenneman officiating at Oak Chapel United Methodist Church 1335 S Jadden Rd, Marion, IN 46953 The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
