Richard J Halt

Richard “Dick” Halt passed away on May 17, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Akron, OH on December 29, 1930, to Raymond Jay and Hilda Rae Halt. A sister, Marion Hines, proceeded him in death.

Dick graduated from Frankfort Pilgrim College in 1948. While attending Frankfort, he met and married his wife of 73 years, Phyllis Elaine Bush. Dick’s experiences at Frankfort were the foundational basis of his spiritual view of life. Dick’s lifetime of work was spent advocating for and contributing to the building of God’s kingdom. He passionately pursued his faith in Jesus Christ.

Dick’s work life spanned 60 years. His career included positions with Best Lock Corporation, P.R. Mallory Corporation, NFIB, and Taylor Pearson Construction in Phoenix, AZ. Dick served as General Publisher of the Wesleyan Church from 1978 to 1986. Following his retirement, Dick continued working as a construction liaison for Indiana Wesleyan University and as a representative for Associated Supply.

Dick loved to travel, especially on weekend road trips. He enjoyed bowling and loved to golf. He was a good steward of his own things, God’s things, and others.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis; sons Rick Halt, Marion, IN and James (Teresa) Halt, Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren Kelly (Brandon) Rock, Gas City, IN; Richard “Rich” (Natalie) Halt, Converse, IN; Holly (Hilton) Randolph, Lakeland, FL; Dustin (Christina) Shelton, Fruitland Park, FL; Brian Wininger, Indianapolis, IN; Mykel Wininger, Indianapolis, IN; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 12 to 2pm, Thursday May 25, 2023, at College Wesleyan Church, Marion, IN. Service to be held at 2pm with burial at Grant Memorial Park, Marion, IN, immediately following.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Wesleyan Endowment Fund.
