Richard "Dewayne" Hook

Richard “Dewayne” Hook, 73, of Anderson and formerly of Jonesboro, died Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Community Hospital of Anderson.

Dewayne was born in Marion, Indiana, son of the late Virgil and Kathleen Lynch Hook. He was a graduate of the last graduating class of Fairmount High School in 1969. Richard had a lifelong passion for learning and teaching. He had completed many courses at Ball State and had started his Master’s Degree. He loved anything to do with nature especially astronomy and state parks. He enjoyed teaching at Ivy Tech and substituting for local schools. Dewayne was also a member of the Indiana National Guard Reserves.

Dewayne is survived by his sons, Virgil “Ben” (Kristi) Hook, Anderson, and Richard "Abe" (Robin) Hook of Dayton, Ohio; sister, LouRae (Dave) Rumple, Jonesboro.

Services for Dewayne have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. A celebration of life service will be held at the Fowlerton Methodist Church, 315 Franklin St, Fowlerton, IN 46930 on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 12-2 PM with a service beginning at 2 PM with Pastor Jack Scott officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family with expenses.
