Richard D. Sherman, Jr., 54, passed away of natural causes on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Marion General Hospital. Richard was born on January 14, 1964, to Richard D. Sherman, Sr. and the late Sarah E. Carter. He served in the Army National Guard and then worked as a truck driver for Williston Peanut Factory for many years. Richard was an outdoorsman, enjoying any time he was able to spend camping, hunting, and fishing. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, especially when they would go fishing together at Mt. Etna at theSalamonieReservoir. They also like to throw a football around. Richard was full of personality and loved to joke around. He is survived by his father, Richard (Janice) Sherman, Sr.; brother, Rodney (Rebecca) Sherman; sister, LauraYuangzo; half-brother, Adam Carter; three children, Ashley, James, and Eric; six grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Carter, son, Richard Sherman, III, and his grandmother, Ruth Virginia May Sherman. Arrangements have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel ofArmes-HuntFuneral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, Indiana 46953. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, from9:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with a funeral service following at 11:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park. The family has asked that those who would like to spend some time sharing memories to please join them at the Eagles Lodge at 933 S. Washington St. in Marion after the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
