Randall "Randy" J. Shane

Randall J. "Randy" Shane, 76, of Fairmount, died, Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Lutheran Hospital after a brief illness.

Randy was born in Marion, Indiana on August 7, 1946, son of the late Fred E. and Mamie Ann (Board) Shane. Randy graduated from Fairmount High School in 1964 and shortly after married the love of his life, Carolyn Dailey, on June 6, 1964 at the Friends Church parsonage. Randy retired in 1997 from Dana after 30 years, where he worked in production/quality control. After retiring from Dana he enjoyed flipping houses. He had also worked at the former Nolder Funeral Home in Fairmount. Randy helped start and also coached the Fairmount Youth Football League and was also Madison-Grant High School Football stat keeper for a number of years. He and Carolyn enjoyed a lot of traveling over the years. He also enjoyed, yard work and playing poker. Playing at Arbor Trace Golf Course or watching it on TV, golf was his passion. Randy loved to tease, do what he could to help, enjoyed life no matter what he was doing, and was an all around great guy. Even in death Randy will continue to help others, by donating his whole body to aid in research of various studies. Randy was very proud of the fact he had been accepted to the IU School of Medicine, something he felt very strongly about for many years.

Randy is survived by his wife Carolyn of 58 years; nephew, Josiah (Brandy) Robbins; great-nieces, Alyson and Rylee Robbins; cousins, Connie (Mike) Relfe, Becky (Terry) Ice, Sharon (Oren) Felton, Sheila (John) Voight, and Kim (Brian) Davis; sisters-in-law, Kay (Dick) Flora, Jeannie (Jerry) Hoover, and Nancy (Steve) Hill; the Seward Lane and Howard Court Neighbors; and the Arbor Trace Golf Course Girls, Becky Wolfgang and Jeanie Barton.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Tamra Brewer, and great-nephew, Landon Robbins.

Services for Randy will be at the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana on Friday, May 5, 2023. Visitation is from 3-6 PM with the funeral service at 6 PM with Pastor Michael Fuqua officiating.
