Phyllis A. Seward, 82, passed away with her family by her side on Friday, April 14, 2023, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Phyllis was born on July 31, 1940, to the late Everett and Mary Horine. Phyllis was a member of the former Rigdon United Methodist Church. She graduated from Elwood High School and then went on to graduate from Cosmetology School, having a treasured career. On June 8, 1963, she married Joe Seward. She was a dedicated wife to her husband and a loving Mother to her children, a true Proverbs 31 Woman.
In addition to caring for her family, Phyllis was dedicated to her community. She was on the Fowlerton Tomato Festival Committee, a Precinct Committeewoman, and Clerk Treasurer for Fowlerton. She, also took great pride and honor in keeping the records for Park Cemetery of Fairmount.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Joe, Fowlerton; children, Lori Scott, Rigdon, Titus (Bonnie) Seward, Jonesboro, Philip (Stacey) Seward, Fairmount, and Melinda Stewart (Mike), Fowlerton; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn Thatcher, Fowlerton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Mary; brothers, Allen and John Horine; and sister, Jeanette Coffin.
Arrangements for Phyllis have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.
