Upland: Pauline Hunter Gruver, 90, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning at IU Blackford Hospital, Hartford City. She was born the daughter of the late Vearl Marshall (1903-1934) and Florence "Flossie" (Bartlett) (1905-1964) Hults, in Grant County. She attended Jefferson Township School in Upland and married her school days sweetheart Warren Lee Hunter on May 17, 1944. Warren preceded her in death in 1957 due to a work-related accident. A widow for just over a third of her life, she later married Edgar Charles Gruver (1931-2013) on Aug.11, 1988. Mrs. Gruver was employed at Pierce Governor, Upland, from its opening in 1965 until her retirement in 1988. She enjoyed cats, sewing, puzzles and family. She attended First Christian Church, Hartford City. Survivors include children: Barbara (Wayne) Roberts, Hartford City, Ruth Smith, Jonesboro, Dennis (Diana) Hunter, Hartford City, Daniel Hunter, Upland; grandchildren: Brian Roberts, Rhonda (Randy) Thornburg, Connie (Alex) Johns, Debbie (Rick) Teegarden, Sandra (Mike) Parks, Robert (Laura) Smith, Glen Smith, Eric Hunter, Clifton (Jennifer) Hunter, Austin Hunter and Emily Hunter; 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; and her younger sister, Carol Mason, Marion.In addition she was preceded in death by her younger brother, Charles Rex Hults (1934-1981), great-grandson Michael (2010).Preferred memorials to Blackford County Animal Shelter, 2525 N 200 E, Hartford City, IN 47348.Visitation: 10-11 AM Wednesday, January 4, 2017, Jones-Smith Funeral Home, 259 N.
