Paulette Faye Battishill

March 1, 1951 — November 23, 2023

Paulette F. Battishill, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 23, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Paulette was born on March 1, 1951, to the late Paul and Maxine Nelson. She graduated from Mississinewa High School, Anderson University, and Ball State University, and worked as a teacher for 39 years for Madison-Grant School Corporation. On August 3, 1974, she married Bert Lee Battishill, and together they had two children. Paulette was a faithful and active member of Women of Hope, New Hope Baptist Church, and the ISTA for many years. She loved to travel, bake, scrapbook, and was an avid gardener. She and Bert made their backyard a literal oasis. She loved all of her family, but her grandchildren were the light of her life and she made every attempt to be at each game, program, or event that they participated in. We will all miss her monster cookies, her smile, her always cold hands, and her laugh that always made her shoulders shake.

Paulette is survived by her husband, Bert; children, Miccah (Jill) Battishill, and Kayla Battishill, both of Gas City; grandchildren, Kennedy and Delaney Battishill, and Treb and Townsen Battishill-Troxell; sisters, Beth (Noel) Schroeder, and Michele (Troy) Stanley, both of Gas City; brother, Mark (Vickie) Nelson; sisters-in-law, Mary Jo (Bill), Gas City, and Deana Mcintyre, Marion; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Maxine, and sister-in-law, Harriett Engstrom.

Arrangements for Paulette have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral and Cremation Services. A visitation will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, 800 East South C Street, Gas City, Indiana 46933, from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023. A funeral service will take place at the church on Friday, December 1, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastors Tim Hewitt and Curtis Rhoadarmer officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Cemetery.

Contributions made in memory of Paulette may be made to New Hope Baptist Church. Online memories and condolences may be shared at armeshuntfuneralhome.com.
