Paul E. Maggard, Sr.

Paul E. Maggard Sr. 89, of Fairmount died, Monday, December 27, 2021, at Marion Health. Paul was born on May 7, 1932, in Sunshine, Kentucky, son of the late William Moses Maggard and Sally (Stiden) Maggard. He attended school in Loyal, Kentucky, and served in the Army from 1953-1955. He married Joyce Cavins on November 1, 1951. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2008. Paul retired from General Motors. He played guitar in a gospel group and he enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the Fairmount Legion #313 and the CPC Sympathy Club. Paul is survived by four children; Bill (Rhonda) Maggard, Swayzee, Tim Maggard and Angela Hatton both of Fairmount, and Sabrina (Jack) Johnson, Alabama; 8 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren; two brothers; Sam (Mary) Maggard, Fairmount, and Don (Vicki) Maggard, Ft. Meyers, FL. He was also preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce; son, Paul Jr. (Martha); brothers; Charles, George, Arnold, Astor, William, and Jimmy; sister, Beulah; daughter, Patricia Maggard; son-in-law, Fred Hatton; daughter-in-law, Donna Maggard; and granddaughters, Loretta Jefferies and Jennifer Gibson. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremations Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where there will be a visitation on Monday, January 3, 2021, from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
