PaavoE.Pogue, 84, Fairmount, Indiana went home to be with the Lord onThursday, December 8, 2016 at University Nursing Center in Upland. Paavowas born in Matthews, Indiana on January 26, 1932 son of the late Daniel O.PogueandSigridSuokkoPogueand graduated from Fairmount High School in1951. He was a combat Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict reaching the rank of Corporal.Paavowas introduced to his wifeBernadineChouquetteTisserandbyChouquettesbrother in France while serving in Army. They were married in Nancy, France on October 15, 1954.Choquettesurvives in Fairmount.Paavoretired fromDelcoRemy in Anderson where he worked on the assembly line for 32 years while also being a part time letter carrier for Fairmount Post Office. He enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota, Astronomy, yard work and feeding the birds. Keeping in shape and weight lifting was always an important part of his life. Up until his illness set in several years ago, he could still do numerous chin ups. He was a member of the D.A.V. of Marion and the American Legion Post 313 of Fairmount where he was a former Chaplain and loved playing Taps for the Memorial Day Services. He also played the trumpet while in the Army. The most important thing inPaavoslife was loving and serving the Lord. Along with his wifeChoquette,Paavois survived by sisters-in laws; Jeanine (Bill)Wehrung, New Berne, NC,GacquelineTisserend,Lockeford, California and brother-in-lawJarque(Penny)Tisserend, Alexandria, Virginia and dear neighbors and friends theZirkles. He was preceded in death by son, DanielPogueand brother, PaulPogue. Arrangements have been entrusted toArmes-HuntFuneral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where there will be a viewing on Monday December 12, 2016 from 11 AM - 1 PM with a funeral service following at 1 PM with Revered RichardDeislerofficiating. Graveside service with Military Rites will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana. There will be a American Legion Service at 11 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Wreaths Across American in care of the funeral home.
