Orval Joe Meyers

Orval J. Meyers, 86, went to his heavenly home January 3, 2023. Orval was born April 12, 1936, in Gas City, Indiana, to Charles and Violet Meyers. He graduated from Fairmount High School in 1955 and attended Taylor University. He married Mary Lou Hoheimer in 1958. He and Mary Lou had 64 wonderful years together. Soon after getting married, he was drafted into the US Army. After boot camp, he was stationed in Germany until he completed his tour of duty. He was a meat cutter and department manager for Driskill's Supermarket in Fairmount for 43 years. After retiring from the grocery business, he became a babysitter to his grandchildren for the next 15 years. Orval was an avid sports fan and loved whatever type of sport that was being played. He was also an excellent fisherman. His very favorite thing to do was to spend time with the love of his life, Mary Lou, and to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be so missed for the love, laughter, and support that he gave to all of his family members. His impact will be felt for generations.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Violet, and sister, Patty Armstrong.

He is leaving behind his wife, Mary Lou; children, Sebrina (Jim) Capen, Joe (Josh) Meyers, and Robyn (A.J.) Mercker; grandchildren, Sabra (Ryan) Moulton, Sierra Piercefield, Andrew (Kate) Mercker, Kristin (Chris) Hoffman; and great-grandchildren, Shaylin, Brookleigh, Blake, Bekam, Brielle, and Drew, with two more great-granddaughters on the way.

Arrangements for Orval have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In accordance with Orval's wishes, no services will be held.
