Nancy (Cole) Banter quietly passes away on February 23, 2025. She was born July 28, 1941, in Matthews, Indiana, to Erman and Lucille (Barnett) Cole. She married Thomas Banter on January 25, 1959. They were married 56 years until his death.
Nancy had many adventures in her lifetime. She was in leadership roles for both Girls Scouts, and Boy Scouts. She was the favorite chaperon for the high school band, which provided her with a trip to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. She was a member of Oak Chapel Church since 1959, and was involved in the Children's Ministry - especially Vacation Bible School.
While her love for children made her happy, her super power was sewing and quilting. It was a special gift from God, and she loved making things for family and friends. Her famous cinnamon rolls were also a gift to her loved ones.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother William Cole, sister Janet (Cole) Nottingham, and daughter Joyce (Banter) Davis.
She is survived by sons, Rex (Nancy) Banter, Upland, and Garry (Paige) Banter, Evansville; daughter, Karen Banter, Noblesville; grandchildren, Crystal Davis, Matthews, Ashley (Banter) Cabanaw, Evansville, Heather (Banter) Williams (Scott), Upland, Candy (Davis) Ewart (Billy), Ft. Wayne, Thomas Banter, Evansville, Bradley Banter (Kayla), Marion; great grandchildren, Greyson Cabanaw, Ellyott Cabanaw, Nicholas Williams, Savannah Williams, and Lily Williams.
Arrangements for Nancy have been entrusted to the Jones Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 N Main Street, Upland, IN 46989. A visitation will be held at the Jones Smith Chapel on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 11:00-1:00p.m.. A service will follow by Pastor Ginny Soultz officiating. Immediately following the service a burial will be held at Jefferson Cemetery, Upland, IN 46989.
