Mineva J. Floyd

Mineva J. Floyd, 89 passed away in her home Saturday, December 16, 2023. Born June 18, 1934, in Monroe Township, Grant County, Indiana to the late Bill and Gertrude Reece. She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1952. She married the late Ron Floyd in 1979. She retired in 1997 after 31 years as a secretary for Eastbrook Community Schools. Mineva continued to work with her husband in their M.J. Floyd Trucking business. She attended Center Chapel Church. Mineva loved singing and playing the piano by ear. Her favorite music was Gospel and Country. She loved family get-togethers and planning surprise Birthday parties. She enjoyed IU Basketball, Indiana Pacers, Nascar Racing. Her favorite drivers were "The Triple J", Jeff, Jimmy, and Junior.


She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Gephart, Upland and Kathy (Dave) Theising, North Aurora, IL; One granddaughter Amber (Dan) Walker, Batavia, IL; two great-grandchildren, Kayla Walker, Zachary Walker; sister Betty Kay, sister-in-law Joan Reece; nices and nephews Catherine (Craig) Yoder, Goshen, Virginia (John) Mansfield, Middlebury, Bill Reece, Marion, Cheryl (Dan) Spencer, Upland, Rod (Donna) Boatwright, Marion, Don (Pam) Boatwright, Noblesville, Lori (Rick) Lampen, Marion, Bud (Lynda) Kay, Marion; and many great-grand nieces and nephews; special friends adopted by heart, Sid Chinai and family, and Darryl Knotts and family.


Special thanks to her neighbors Donnie and Marge Ashley, Don Lidy, Jim Johnson, and Donna DeVault.


She was preceded in death by her husband Ron Floyd, brother J.R. Reece, sisters Rosalie Orbik and Virginia Boatwright, brothers-in-law Dick Kay, Lee Orbik, and Paul Boatwright, and niece Dixie Riddle.


Arrangements have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953. At Mineva's request, there will not be a visitation or funeral. She will be laid to rest at the mausoleum at Grant Memorial Park Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at PO Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
