Mike R. Parker

Michael "Mike" R. Parker Sr., 71, from Warren, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023, in Fort Wayne. Mike was born on September 20, 1951, in Hartford City, to the late Ralph R. and Jean A. (Nelson) Parker, and raised in Upland. He graduated from Eastbrook High School, Class of 1969. Mike served in the US Marines as a military officer in Guam in 1970 and 1971. He married the love of his life, Ann E. Jones, on October 14, 1972, in Upland.

Mike loved his community and dedicated many years to keeping it safe. He started on the Upland Police Department in 1981, and in 1983 he became assistant town marshal. He was later elected town marshal when Mr. Brown passed away. Mike was on the Upland Fire Department and was Chief for many years. He was also an EMT on Medic 8.

Mike was a strong-willed, kind-hearted, and loving man. He liked having a good time and was a jokester. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, coaching his daughters softball team, mowing yards with his son, and attending his grandkids sporting events. He enjoyed camping, going to auctions, and watching racing.

Mike is survived by his wife, Ann E. Parker, Warren; children, Michael R. Parker, Jr., Upland; Melissa (Rob) Burke, Grand Rapids, MI; sister, Sue (Dan) White, Matthews; grandchildren, Wyatt and Zayda Burke, Grand Rapids, MI, and his dogs, Cookie and Buster.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph R. and Jean A. Parker.

Arrangements for Mike have been entrusted to Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana 46989, where a visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Visitation on Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M., funeral beginning at 1:00 P.M., burial immediately following at Jefferson Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Mike to the Upland Fire Department, 127 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana 46989.
