Michael D. Parker, 76, passed away on June 30, 2024 in Indianapolis. He was born on November 1, 1947 to the late Albert and Helen (Dellinger) Parker in Elwood, Indiana. He was a graduate of Wendell L. Willkie class of 1965 in Elwood, Indiana. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served in Korea from 1966 to 1970. He was retired from Delco Remy after 33 years of service. After his retirement he found a love for golf, he would mow the lawn at Arbor Trace Golf Course in Marion, Indiana. Michael was a faithful servant of our Lord and Savior, he was a member of Bethel Worship Center. He helped build the church when they remodeled the church. He was the leader of Celebrate Recovery for many years.
He married Pamela (Wilson) Parker on April 25, 2015. Together they would love to travel to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He enjoyed listening to Dolly Parton. Michael enjoyed many things, especially the outdoors. He would spend a lot of his time golfing, mowing, and fishing. Michael loved to watch his squirrels, he had a favorite squirrel that he named Leroy. He also loved to go bowling, he referred to himself as a “pro” bowler.
Michael is survived by his wife, Pamela (Wilson) Parker of Marion, IN; children, Aimee Parker of Pendleton, IN, Angela Parker of Elwood, William Davis of Anderson, IN; stepson, Jason (Hannah) George of Gas City, IN; grandchild, Christopher Kaelbli, Kam’Ron George; “Mieces” Karissa Taylor, Lexi Taylor, and David Taylor; siblings, Diana Shippey, Sandra Small, Pamela (Robert) Barton, Candice (Douglas) Hull, Keith Parker, and Jeffrey (Debbie) Parker; sister-in-law, ChunAe Parker; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in passing by his parents; brother, Steven Parker; grandchild, Collin Needler; nephews, Johnny Parker, Joseph “Joe” Faulkenberg, John Shippey; niece Tracey Plake.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A visitation for Michael will be held at Bethel Worship Center, 1715 E. 38th Street on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 9:30-11:30. A service will then follow the visitation with Pastor Mike Henson officiating. Immediately following the service a burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery.
