Mary "Rachel" Bliss

Mary "Rachel" Bliss, 95, of Fairmount, died Tuesday, April 18, 2023, after a brief illness.

Rachel was born on January 22, 1928, near Fairmount, Indiana, daughter of the late Jacob O. and Dorothy Marcille (Vetor) Grindle. She graduated from Fairmount High School in 1946 and married Ralph H. Bliss on November 22, 1948. Ralph preceded her in death on April 6, 2013. Rachel was a farmer’s wife and worked alongside Ralph on the farm. She was also an inspector at RCA for many years. She loved spending the summers at Lake Tippy where she enjoyed fishing, boating, and water skiing. Rachel also spent lots of time gardening, canning and freezing from that garden. Shopping, crocheting, knitting, and her cat Jet were also among her favorite things to do.

Rachel is survived by her daughter Debra (Gregg Wood) Bliss, Fairmount; brother, Jim (CJ) Grindle, Fairmount; and sisters, Judy (James) Jones of Clermont, FL and Linda Hasty, Boca Raton, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Phil, Don, and Dick Grindle.

Private services for Rachel will be held at the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana,
