Mary Lou Newsom

Mary Lou Newsom, 63, died Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. Mary Lou was born in Marion, Indiana on February 14, 1958, daughter of the late Clyde Smithson and Loa (Behag) Cole. She attended Mississinewa High School and married Fred Newsom on July 25, 1979. Mary Lou was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, crafting, tending to her herb garden, watching her grandson play sports, and teasing her granddaughters. She was especially fond of her dog, Loki. She is survived by her husband Fred; two daughters, Tawni Winters, Marion, and Autumn Estes, Marion; three grandchildren, Malaki Newsom, Tempest Winters, and Freyja Winters; sister, Barbara Smithson, Gas City; brothers-in-law, Kim Crick, Aaron Newsom, Charles Newsom, and Gabriel Newsom; sisters-in-law, Seclinda Moore, Vorondia Hawkins, Secedelia Simon, and Zelta Bosley; honorary sons, Allen Winters and William McKinney; honorary grandson, Jacoby Drayton; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Cheryl Crick. Arrangements have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, IN where a visitation will be held on Saturday April 17, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at Marion National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Marion-Grant County Humane Society in honor of Mary Lou.
