Marvin Ray Gabbard

Marvin Ray Gabbard, 64, formerly of Fairmount, received his ultimate healing as he smiled and took our Savior's hand after a long battle with cancer on Friday, June 21, 2024 at his Winchester, Tennessee home, surrounded by his daughter Latasha and his fiancee', Lisa


Marvin was born on December 5, 1959, in Marion, Indiana, son of the late John Henry Gabbard and Blanche L. (Cochran) Harris. He graduated from Bath County High School in 1978. While living in Fairmount, Marvin had worked as a meat cutter at Harvest Market in Elwood. Marvin also worked at RCA/Thompson in Marion. Marvin was a unqiue soul with a large and fun personality. He loved to joke and make people laugh. Marvin was a Black Belt in Karate, and enjoyed fishing and playing chess. Marvin enjoyed picture taking and would randomly stop and take pictures of anything he found unique or beautiful. Marvin liked playing video games, watching sports, spending time with his family and his dogs, Toby and Gizmo. Marvin looked forward and enjoyed the adventures with his daughter Tash, "favorite son in law" Drew, "g-babies" Cam, Corb, Layk & Baby B.


Marvin is survived by his fiancee', Lisa Warden; daughter, Latasha (Andrew) Hollingsworth, Fairmount, IN; sons, Aaron Gabbard, Ky, and Chris (Chenelle Norton) Gabbard, Marion, IN; bonus children, Dakota Warden, Chelsey (Jonny) Wright; siblings, Sandra Bailey and Mike (Carm) Lyons; Jim Havens, Carolyn McCulley, Paul Gabbard; grandchildren, Cambrea Lewis, Corbin Hollingsworth, Laykin Lewis, Brielle Hollingsworth, Avalea Gabbard, Caden Gabbard, Jacob Gabbard, James Gabbard, Logan Gabbard, and Caleb Gabbard; 1 great-granddaughter; cousins; Mike Alexander and Jimmy Kellems.


Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Orben Lyons Jr, Rebecca Cunningham and Elizabeth Fletcher.


Services have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. A graveside service will be held at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 2 PM with Pastor Joe Shaver officiating.


Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
