Martha L. 'Marty' Porter

Martha L. Marty Porter, 72, of Fairmount, Indiana died Monday, December 5, 2016 at Wesleyan Health Care Center after an 8 year battle with cancer. Marty was born in New Castle, Indiana on August 31, 1944, the daughter of the late Dale Marion Carper and Catherine R. (Roth) Carper. She was a 1962 graduate of Fairmount High School. Marty was a property manager for several government housing complexes in Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, and Texas. She enjoyed spending time at Lake Webster in the summer time and Florida in the winter and also enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing solitaire. She loved to read, especially crime novels and watching crime shows on television. Marty will be greatly missed by those those who loved her including: children; Lisa (Ed)Blinnand Stephen Porter both of Marion, IN. Seven Grandchildren; KatelynBlinn, Emily (Sam) Ramsey, EvanBlinn, Thomas Graves, Tyler Graves, Justin Daniel and Lea Neely and Siblings; Peg(John) York, North Webster, IN, David Carper, Leesburg, IN, Jeanne (Dave) Carlson, Gainesville, FL, and Jim Carper, Margate, FL and her constant feline companion, Belle. She was preceded in death by her parents and niece, Claire York. Armes-HuntFuneral Home and Cremation Services are handling arrangements. Marty wished to be cremated and preferred to keep things simple. Therefore, a traditional visitation and funeral will not be held. The immediate family will have a celebration of life this summer.
