Martelle R. Norton

Martelle R. (Planck) Norton, 90, of Marion, died Monday morning, April 18, 2016, in her residence, with family by her side. She was born in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, the daughter of the late John D. and Mary E. (King) Planck. Martelle married Willard "Vern" Norton on November 21, 1945, in Marion. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2011. Mrs. Norton was co-owner and bookkeeper of Sportsman's Products Inc. for 25 years and was also employed with Marion Community Schools Corporation as the Secretary of Maintenance for 20 years. She was a member of Lakeview Wesleyan Church and attended College Wesleyan Church. She was a member of AARP. Martelle enjoyed being with family and loved her Savior. Survivors include her children, Bill (Janie) Norton, Upland, Rod Norton, Longview, Texas, Dan Norton, Marion, and Debra (Keith Rea) Norton, Longview Texas; a sister-in-law, Barbara Planck, Gainsville, Florida; three grandchildren, Jenny (Matthew) Schamber, Jim (Carrie) Norton, and Rob (Brenna) Cline; three great grandchildren, Brady Oswalt, Hudson Cline, and Brooklyn Schamber; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Jarrell Planck; two sisters, Wilma Markley and Loise Bradley; and a nephew, Donald Bradley.
