Lynn F. Jones

Lynn F. Jones, 89, of Jonesboro died Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Wesleyan Health Care.

Lynn was born in Grant County on September 30, 1934, son of the late Francis Marion Jones and Mildred Thelma (Fisher) Jones. He was a graduate of Mississinewa High School in 1952 and of Marion Business College. Lynn proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean Conflict from June 1952 to September 1955. He was married to Betty Lou (Coker) Jones for 40 years before she preceded him in death on December 2, 2003.

Lynn was a meat cutter for 20 years working at Ed's Country Market and the Sweetser Market. He then worked Security at Dana for 15 years. He was an avid sports fan, with the Colts and Pacers being his favorite. He enjoyed traveling, reading, working crossword puzzles, attending Marion Civic Theater productions, along with the Mississinewa Valley Band concerts. Lynn was a member of the VFW Post 70, Marion and the American Legion Post 95, Jonesboro and attended Grace Community Church of Marion.

Lynn is survived by daughters, Linda Jane Sluder, Hartford City and Diana (Gailon Garling) Jones, Gas City; stepdaughters, Debbie Roby, Gas City and Donna Davis, Ely, Minnesota; stepson Charles Hendey, Fairmount; grandson, Jeremy (Karen) Jones, Jonesboro; brother, Michael (Charlotte) Jones, Creswell, Oregon; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and companion Joyce Reese.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters, Janice Hanmore and Mariam Hammond, and granddaughter, Robyn D. Bledsoe.

Service for Lynn will be held at the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana on Saturday, January, 6, 2024. Visitation is from 10 AM-12 PM with the funeral service at 12 PM with Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion with military honors.
