Linda S. Riggs, 77, passed away at her Swayzee home, on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Linda was born in Peru, on October 20, 1946, to the late Vern and Patricia (Fuller) Shroyer. She graduated from Fairmount High School in 1964. Linda earned her bachelor's degree from Ball State in 1967, and then earned her master's degree in 1971, both in education. She was a 3rd grade teacher for 42 years, she taught at Point Isabel and Liberty Elementary. Linda married the love of her life, the late John E. Riggs, on July 22, 1967, at Point Isabel United Methodist Church. She was a member of Point Isabel United Methodist Church and Fairmount United Methodist Church.
Linda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their activities/sporting events. Linda adored all of her nieces and nephews. She was an avid IU and St. Louis Cardinals fan. She traveled to many stadiums. Linda enjoyed reading, puzzles, bowling, and being outside doing things in her yard. Linda was a determined and strong-willed woman. She was the best listener, she was kind, and always treated everyone fairly.
Linda is survived by her children, Arrick John "AJ" (Amber) Riggs, Noblesville; and Kara Jane (Brian) Berens, Swayzee; siblings, Stan (Cindy) Shroyer, TX; and Sid (Judy) Shroyer, South Bend; grandchildren, Jace Arrick Riggs, Audra M. Berens, Ella Emery, Caleb Emery, and Connor Emery; five nephews; and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Patricia (Fuller) Shroyer, and her husband John E. Riggs.
Arrangements for Linda were entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953, where on Saturday, February 10, 2024, there will be a visitation held from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., with the funeral beginning at 2:00 P.M..
