Leo Moore 86, of Jonesboro, a longtime pastor and servant of God when home to Heaven early Sunday May 14, 2023 at Marion Health, Marion, Indiana


Leo was a longtime pastor of the former Community Chapel Church, Fairmount and has recently been attending First General Baptist Church, Marion, IN When he started preaching in Kentucky, he would ride a mule to get to his destination to preach. He retired after 30 years from Dana Corporation, Marion. He enjoyed woodworking, doing masonry work, building chairs and bird houses. He was an sewing enthusiast, enjoyed reading, singing, praying and preaching. He was always encouraging people to read, either the Bible or a book, even while in the hospital he was encouraging others.


Leo was a father or uncle to pretty much everyone he met. He made them family, whether they were friends of his kids, people he met at church, or anyone he happened to have a conversation with. Didn't matter when or where , he may not have remembered names, but he remembered talking to people and what he prayed for them about.


Leo was born May 16, 1936 at Ashland, Kentucky to the late Estille and Lucy Jane (Eldridge) Moore. On Aug. 28, 1971 he married Linda Jeffries and she survives.


Also surviving is son; David (Kimberly) Moore, Marion, daughters; Teresa (Bill) Eskridge, of Marion and Shannon Moore, Indianapolis. Grandchildren; Bryan (Jennifer) Eskridge, Marion, Jerimiah (Katrina) Moore, Kokomo, Zack (Whitney) Moore, Churubusco, IN Molly Moore, Marion. Great Grandchildren; Danielle Eskridge, Trey Eskridge, Jerimiah Moore,Jr. Isaiah Moore, Lauren Morris. Siblings; Betty Hall, Wanda (Larry) Rollans, Elsie (Ron) Wilson, Roger (Chet) Moore, Udell Moore, Jeanie Pruitt, Oscar Wagner.


He preceded in death by his parents, Son Michael Moore, grandson,  Joshua Moore,  great-grandson, Bryan Eskridge Jr., brothers, Walter, Edward, Ellis, and Mitchell.


Services for Leo will be Thursday May 18, 2023 at Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, IN Visitation will be from 11-1 PM at the funeral home with the funeral service at 1:00 PM officiated by Pastor Allen Reagan and Pastor David Moore. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery Fairmount.


Memorial contributions may be made to The First General Baptist Church.
