Lawrence A. Pulley

Lawrence A. Pulley, 94, of Upland, passed away on Monday evening, October 26, 2020, in Twin City Healthcare, Gas City. He was born on March 5, 1926 in Huntington County, the son of the late Basil and Edna (Keffer) Pulley. Lawrence graduated from Jefferson Township High School, Upland, in 1944. He served in the United States Army from 1945-1946 during World War II. He married the love of his life, Frances Eib on May 14, 1949 at Jalapa United Methodist Church, Marion. Together they shared 67 years, before she preceded him in death on September 27, 2016. Mr. Pulley was a resident of Upland and Grant County for most of his life, where he was employed with Eastbrook Community Schools Corporation at Upland Elementary as a custodian for 20 years before his retirement in 2005. Prior to his service at the school, he was a farmer for many years. He was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church, Marion, and the American Legion Post #368, Van Buren. Survivors include a son: Dan (Marilou) Pulley, Gas City; a daughter: Lou Ann (Jerry) Bosworth, Gas City; a son-in-law: David Smith, Upland; three grandchildren: Amy (Jay) Ross; Josh (Misty) Bosworth; and Aaron (Brandi) Smith; five great grandchildren: Kennedy; Trevor; Bradyn; Josie; and Jagger. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Julie Smith, on November 14, 2015; and a brother: Russell Pulley. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 259 N. Main St., Upland, where a visitation will be held from 4-7 pm, Wednesday, November 4, 2020. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
