Laura J. Drook, 76, passed away at Parkview Regional Medical Center. She was born September 11, 1947, to Robert and Eleanor (Minnick) Bowman in Sweetser, Indiana. She married Robert L. Drook on November 5, 1965, who preceded her in death.
Laura was a 1965 graduate of Marion High School, and shortly after graduation, she married Robert L. Drook. Together, they embarked on a journey of love and partnership. She dedicated herself to raising their three children. Later in life, she pursued a fulfilling career as a purchasing agent at the VA, where she dedicated 27 years of her life to serving her community.
Beyond her professional and family life, she was an amazing woman with a great smile and a huge heart. Her infectious cackle could brighten anyone's day. She loved archery, and reading was another one of her cherished hobbies, as well as Facebook, which allowed her to stay connected with friends and family. Crosswords were a beloved pastime, a testament to her sharp mind and love for solving puzzles. And then there was "Grey's Anatomy," a TV show that she loved!
But perhaps her greatest love was reserved for her grandkids and their sports. She cheered them on from the sidelines, reveling in their victories and offering unwavering support during their challenges. Her love for them was boundless, just like her warm smile and generous heart.
Laura is survived by children Londa (Grant) Griffis, Tilenna Drook, and Shane (Angela) Drook; grandchildren Tara (Daniel Robinson) McDonald, Chelsie (Sam) Holloway, Bre Yeakle, Alexis (Reece) Carter, Jordan (Briana) Drook, Braden (Sophie Orrell) Drook, Clayton Drook, Raven Sollars, and Camden Drook; great-grandchildredn Lillian, Gracie, Garret, Cade, Emerysn, Emmie, Katie, Abbie, and Harper; and brother Michael (Pat) Bowman and her beloved granddog Khaleesi. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, daughter Lillian Drook, and siblings Robert Bowman, Steven Bowman, and Sandy Hulse.
Arrangements for Laura have been entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association PO Box 840692 Dallas, Texas 75284-0692 in Laura's honor.
