Larry Heck

d. October 3, 2024

Larry Dean Heck, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Swayzee on October 3, 2024, surrounded by his devoted family. Born on March 31, 1959, in Wichita, Kansas, Larry was the son of the late Patricia Stumbo Heck and Larry Churchwell. He grew up in Marion and later attended Huntington North High School. Larry was a skilled journeyman operator, working at various companies including Foster Forbes, Mountain Bottle Company, and Coors Bottling Company.

Passionate about sports, Larry was an enthusiastic fan of tennis and NASCAR, holding a special admiration for drivers such as Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, and Sterling Marlin. His hobbies included woodworking, barbecuing, and savoring culinary delights.

On September 1, 1990, Larry married his beloved wife Joann Cooper Heck, who survives him. Together, they created a beautiful family and shared many precious memories. Larry was a devoted father to Leia (Jeremy) Waite, Lonnie (Sarah) Heck, Norma (Jeremy) Huron, and his late stepdaughter Cheryl Banter, and a proud grandfather to Chris, Hannah, Abby, Jake, Marshall, Landon, Brodric, and Sadie, son-in-law; Jeff Banter.

Larry is also survived by his father Larry (Judy) Churchwell, his siblings Joyce (Matt) Dodge, Jimmy (Vicki)) Heck, and Doug (Julie) Churchwell, and a host of other family members who mourn his passing. Preceded in death by his mother Patricia (Roy) and sister Debbie (Bud) Folk, Larry's loss leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral arrangements for Larry Dean Heck have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Marion, Indiana. A life celebration in honor of Larry will be held at a later date, offering an opportunity for friends and family to come together to remember the cherished moments they shared with him.
