Lamerle Alexander

LaMerle "Granny" Wales Alexander, 84, Greentown, passed away surrounded by her family on September 7, 2021, in Kokomo, Indiana. On November 17, 1956, she married Jack Alexander in Marion, Indiana. Born in Athens, AL, she was the daughter of Tom and Lucille Wales. She graduated from Converse High School. She retired from UPI in Kokomo. She was a member of the Normal Church of Christ, and she enjoyed gardening and flowers. She loved spending time with her family, and especially loved being Granny to family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Jack Alexander; daughters, Jacki Petty (Ross), Jill Shiposh (Mark), and Jennifer Poole (Dwayne); grandchildren, Michael Lybrook (Michelle R.), Jennifer Lybrook, and Amanda Lybrook, Jeffery Brandon Shiposh (Jessica), Krista Abresch (Mike), Casey Shiposh, and Corey Shiposh, John Alexander, Joseph Turner (Bri), Brock Poole (Maggie), and Zachary Poole (Julie); 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 6 sisters, Jaunell Perry, Valerie Hunt, Jeanette Smith, Kathy Bright (Al), Judy Buckler (Bob), and Rita Rice (Tim); and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Lucille Wales, and her granddaughter-in-law, Michelle A. Visitation will be on Friday, September 10, at 11 am, with the funeral service to follow at 1 pm, at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services College Park Chapel, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana. Interment will be at Grant Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion, Indiana. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in LaMerle's name.
