Kathleen Lynch Hook

The Lord took Mary Esther Kathleen Lynch Hook, 93, into his arms on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at her Jonesboro residence, to reunite her with her love, Virgil Richard Hook. They celebrated 71 years together before his passing in 2016. Kathleen was born on October 14, 1925 at the family home just outside of Jonesboro, daughter of the late Chester Loyd and Beulah I. (Davis) Lynch. Kathleen graduated from Fairmount High School in 1943 and attended Indiana Wesleyan at the age of 51. She retired from the Marion Veterans Administration where she worked in the Medical Library for over 20 years. Upon retirement, she became an active member of the Indiana Guard Reserve in the Recruitment Retention unit under the leadership of the governor of Indiana, retiring with the rank of Captain. She also worked for the ration board at the Health Department. Kathleen was active in the Democratic Party serving as vice chairman of Grant County. She received personal letters from presidents Harry Truman, Richard Nixon, John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. Kathleen was an avid sports fan. She sang at the Spencer Hotel with many well known bands during the Big Band era. She was a member of theFowlertonUnited Methodist Church for 75 years and the Jonesboro (nowSwayzee) Eastern Star. Kathleen is survived by son, RichardDeWayneHook and daughter, Kathleen Lou Rae (Dave) Rumple both of Jonesboro; grandchildren: Richard Abraham (Misty) Hook, Fairfield, OH, Virgil Ben (Krista) Hook, Anderson, David Micah Rumple, Texas, Cory (Tierra) Rumple, Gas City, Cody Rumple, Jonesboro, Emma Rumple, Jonesboro; great-grandson,WestlynRumple, Gas City. Along with her parents and husband, Kathleen was preceded in death by brother and sister-n-law, Raymond and Luella Lynch. Armes-HuntFuneral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S.
