Judith "Judy" F. Blessing

Judith "Judy" F. (Sprong) Blessing, 77, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022, in Marion, Indiana. Judy was born on May 12, 1945, in Marion, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Clinton A. and Glendora J. (Harrell) Sprong. She worked in electrical repair and United Technologies (UTEC) in Huntington for 25 years, retiring in 2000. Judy married John F. Blessing on October 9, 2004. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2012. Judy enjoyed reading, embroidery, and going to rummage sales. She was a Golden Eagle Member of the Marion Aerie Eagles Lodge #227 Auxiliary and served as a past Madam President in Marion. Judy was a member of the American Legion #10. She loved playing BINGO and you could often find her at the Eagles on a BINGO night. Judy was a very loving person and such a kind soul. She loved her family more than anything. Judy is survived by her children, Robert (Bridget) Carter, Marion; James (Joanne) Jones, Peru; Dea (Michael) Gallahan, Converse; Kevin (Amber) Smiley, FL; John Michael Smiley; and Russell Martin Smiley; sisters, Linda Turner, La Fontaine; and Sheryl (Steve) Osborn, Marion; her favorite niece, Dawn (John) Becker; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, sisters, Billie Gause, and Clara May Patton; daughter, Lisa Carter; grandson, Brian Allen Evans; and brother-in-law, Ervin Turner. Arrangements for Judy have been entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953, where the family will have a visitation for family and friends on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Tom Mansbarger. Burial will be at Knox Chapel Cemetery in Point Isabel immediately following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Judy to the Eagles Lodge #227 Women's Auxiliary or the Marion-Grant County Humane Society.
