Joyce 'Marilyn' Wampner

Joyce Marilyn (Rose) Wampner, 90, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, in Marion, Indiana. Marilyn was born to the late John L. Rose and the late Inez (Cabe) Godfroy, on July 27, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio. She attended Marion Community Schools and was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church, Marion. She married the late Elwood J. Wampner, on June 30, 1945, and they were married for 73 years. Marilyn had 5 children by the time she was 22 years old. She loved to cook, listen to music, and babies, and she had the craft of making artificial silk flower arrangements. Marilyn was a wonderful mother, she was joyful, playful, and had a dry sense of humor. Marilyn had a good heart but suffered most of her life from emotional issues, most of the issues were caused by many illnesses she never fully recovered from. She suffered from a stroke in 2003 that caused her to live out the remainder of her years in nursing homes. Her children visited her often and made sure she was as happy and healthy as she could be. The family would like to make a special thanks to the staff at Colonial Oaks and Heart to Heart Hospice for giving Marilyn the care, love, and attention that she needed and deserved. Marilyn is survived by sons, Robert D. Wampner Marion, IN, and Steve A. (Sue Ellen) Wampner, Marion, IN; daughters, Rebecca Becky ( Bob) McClure Marion, IN and Judi (Hollis) Harris (and her children), Marion, IN; son-in-law, Jim (Brenda) Thurman Marion, IN; and grandchildren, Laura ( Joel) Sutton; Kendra Thurman-Southard; Kevin Wampner; and Hayley (Daniel) Pifer; great-grandchildren: Chris (Darci) Isaacs, Kara Taylor, and Cody Sutton, Michael (fianc Melissa Rower) Osburn, Kayla (Derek) Undem, Emily Southard, Brandtly Southard, Zakkary Osburn, Ciera (Kory) Carson, Colton and Ayden Wampner, and Kinley Pifer; great-great-grandchildren, Paxton and Lexi Isaacs, Ayden Osburn, Riley Undem, Oaklee Kevina Corson, and Violette Rose Osburn. She is preceded in death by her parents, John L. Rose and Inez (Cabe) Godfroy; daughter, Judy Wampner Thurman; sister, Joan Adonis Riggs; grandchildren, Kelly Jo Thurman, Katina Thurman Osburn, and John Michael Dooley; and great-granddaughter,Gabriella Southard. Arrangements have been entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953, where there will be a visitation on Thursday, October 3, 2019, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and a funeral service on Friday, October 4, 2019, beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Don Miller officiating, burial immediately following at Grant Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Marilyn to Heart to Heart Hospice, 1385 N Baldwin Ave, Marion, IN 46952.
