Joyce Ann Davis

Joyce Ann Davis, 63, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. Joyce was born on January 15, 1960, in Marion, to Thomas and Nancy Banter. She graduated from Eastbrook High School in 1978. Joyce married the love of her life, Jimmy Lee Davis, on June 29, 1979. She retired from being a housekeeper at Taylor University in 2021 after 25 years of service. Joyce was a member of First Community Church in Matthews.

She was very active at her church - she was a Sunday School teacher, and a Ladies Aide and Bible Study leader. Her passion was teaching children about Jesus. She enjoyed reading, baking, camping, and collecting lighthouses, and she loved spending time with her family. Joyce never met a stranger - she could carry on a conversation with anyone. She was a very loving, kind, caring, and Christlike woman. She was an extremely devoted wife and mother, and she is missed immensely by her family.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy L. Davis, Matthews; daughters, Crystal Davis, Matthews, and Candy (Billy) Ewart, Fort Wayne; mother, Nancy; siblings, Rex (Nancy) Banter, Upland, Karen Banter, Noblesville, and Garry (Paige) Banter, Evansville; 7 nieces and nephews; and 14 great-nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Tom.

Arrangements for Joyce have been entrusted to Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana, where a visitation will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023, from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. There will also be a time of visitation on Monday, June 26, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joe Ruberg officiating. Burial will take place at Matthews Cemetery, in Matthews, Indiana.
