Joseph M. Dickensheet

September 14, 1945 — November 14, 2023

Joseph Mark Dickensheet went to be with his soulmate Judy in heaven on November 14, 2023.

Joe was born on September 14, 1945, in Marion, IN to the late Arthur and Irene (Huffman) Dickensheet. He attended Marion High School before enlisting in the US Army at the age of 17 because he said he "wanted to be like his big brother Jim". Joe served as a Private from 1962-1968 in the 919th Engineer Company and the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment (Blackhorse). He received several awards for his service.

Joe worked at BICC Cable/Anaconda for 25 years before he retired. He also served as a steward for the IBEW Local 855 during his time at the cable company. He was a member of the American Legion Post 95, Amvets and VFW. Joe married his honey Judy Dotterweich, on July 7th, 1993, and the two of them loved to travel, spend time with family and swing on their porch swing. Joe loved listening to music (especially the Eagles, Tom Petty and John Prine), fishing, shooting his guns, playing video games and watching old war and western movies. He also loved Donna's meatloaf, a nice bowl of chili, ice cream, frozen cokes and a nice flannel shirt. Joe was a quiet man, but when he spoke his words carried a lot of weight and he truly had a heart of gold. He was the epitome of the saying "give someone the shirt off your back" and went out of his way to help others as much as he could.

The family of Joseph would like to say thank you to Stillwater Hospice for the care and compassion they received during this difficult time.

Joe leaves behind his son, Joseph (Linda) Dickensheet Jr., daughters, Heather (Scott) Koons and Amanda Dotterweich. Grandchildren - with whom he cherished his title of the "Biggest Monkey", Joshua, Justin, Carter, Madison, Kaitlyn, Anthony, Harrison, Carissa, Spencer, Amanda, Christa and Steven. Great-grandchildren, Khalil, Kensingtan, Paetyn, Emmersyn, Crimson, Callen, Caleb and Atlas. Sister, Donna Williams, Sisters-in-Law, Linda Dickensheet, Patty Brown and Sue (Bones) Gregory. Best friend Sam Eib and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers James Dickensheet and Bobby J Dickensheet and brothers-in-law Jim Williams and Wayne Brown.
