John W. Wilhelm, 93, died on Monday evening, August 13, 2018, in his residence with family by his side. He was born on July 9, 1925 in York, Pennsylvania, the son of the late John W. and Mary (Eckenrode) Wilhelm. John graduated from York High School, York, Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Franklin Marshall, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Radio Operator. He married Ruth EllenMeckleyon June 11, 1955, in York, Pennsylvania. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2002. In 1971, he moved with his family from Pennsylvania to Indiana, where he worked as a Supervisor at RCA for more than 30 years. Mr. Wilhelm attended the First Presbyterian Church, Jonesboro. He enjoyed golfing at Walnut Creek Golf Course, where he was a member. He also enjoyed operating ham radios and spending time with his family. Survivors include a daughter: Michele (Jon)Lazard; a son: Michael (Susan) Wilhelm; a grandson: Tony (Cathlyn)Eder; and a great grandson: XavierEder. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, MargaretEverhart. Services and burial will take place in Pennsylvania at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted toArmes-HuntFuneral Home Cremation Services, Jones-Smith Chapel, 259 N. Main St., Upland, Indiana. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
