John Robert Swasho

John R. Swasho, 82, died unexpectedly at his Fairmount, Indiana residence. John was born in Tionesta Pennsylvania on August 1, 1935, son of the late George and Jane Swasho. John served in the United State Army from 1954-1956. John married LaVerna Lee Niedo. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2011. He had served as a police officer in Anderson, Missouri. John was of the Native American Faith and enjoyed Native American woodworking and leather working as well as hunting and fishing. He enjoyed greeting people and engaging in conversation at Helping Hands. He is survived by his children; John Sally Swasho, Tulsa, OK, George Melissa Swasho, Poplar, MO, Robert and Lisa Swasho, Neelyville, MO, William Darrell Swasho, Tulsa, OK, LaDonna Jerry Carter Burton, MI, James Kim Swasho, Enid, OK, step-daughter, Tami (Tony) Southard, Fairmount, 18 grandchildren; Amanda, John, David, Jessica, Rusty, Hannah, Ron, Dustin, Ashely, Joshua, Cassandra, Ashely, Will Jr., Charley, Lucas, Natasha, Aubrey, and Derrick. Arrangements are being handled by the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. There are no services. Johns cremains will be buried at a later date next to his wife at Park Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the funeral home to defray funeral expenses.
